Cosmetic dentistry is becoming more popular among people who want to have a brighter smile. These treatments can also be restorative. That means you can upgrade your teeth’s appearance and restore functionality. Keep reading to learn more about how you can transform your smile.
Dental implants
Implants can replace one or more missing teeth. That might be because the teeth fell out or were extracted. Implants can also keep dentures in place, preventing slippage. The implant will go in the bone and then integrate with the bone.
That just means it fuses to the surrounding bone, a process that takes a few months. After bonding to the jaw, the implant is now permanent. It will not need repairs or replacements. A dental crown, or false tooth, goes on the implant, creating a complete smile.
Dental crowns
Crowns are often placed on teeth that are compromised. That might mean it has a large filling that is currently weakening the tooth’s structure. Or it could be cracked, fractured, or broken. A patient may need to wear a crown right after a root canal procedure. The crowns will be matched to the existing tooth, allowing it to blend in seamlessly and evenly with the smile.
Tooth reshaping
This process is also known as dental contouring, and it is a cosmetic option. It involves removing pieces of the tooth, so the smile is more even. That might be done if there are chips at the front of the mouth. Sometimes, teeth might be uneven, so bits will be removed to even them out.
In other cases, some teeth will be a little too long. This is a good option for small cosmetic issues that make someone feel self-conscious. However, it is a good option for issues that are not detrimental to the patient’s oral health. Even removing a few millimeters can impact the smile for the better.
Dental bonding
This involves using composite resin to cover small cosmetic dentistry issues near the front of the mouth. Often, this is a good option for those who have spaces between the teeth. It is also good for uneven teeth. Teeth that are shorter than others can be covered with dental bonding. It can be used for breaks or chips in the teeth.
Orthodontic treatment
This can help to enhance the smile permanently. For teens and children, there might be crowding or crookedness that prevents evenness. Adults can also get orthodontic treatment as a cosmetic dentistry treatment. There are now options like clear braces and invisible braces. That can realign the teeth and improve the smile’s feel and look.
